Max Verstappen is currently dominating Formula 1. The Dutch driver has surpassed expectations this season and won ten of the first twelve races. The two-time world champion is miles ahead of teammate Sergio Perez. The Mexican driver has failed to match the reigning world champion this season. Now, Verstappen has revealed his dream teammate.

The two-time world champion was asked to name a driver who would be his dream teammate. Verstappen was given the choice of picking any current or past F1 drivers. The 25-year-old replied heartfeltly and told Skysports, “That would be me and my dad.” The Red Bull driver clarified that his father, Jos Verstappen, would be his choice in such a scenario.

Jos Verstappen raced in Formula 1 between in the 1990s and a few sesons in the early 2000s. The 51-year-old made 106 race starts at the pinnacle of motorsport. However, the elder Verstappen failed to win a Grand Prix despite partnering Michael Schumacher in the German’s championship-winning 1994 season at the Benetton F1 team.

Red Bull signed Sergio Perez to partner Max Verstappen in 2021. The Mexican driver has failed to match the two-time world champion throughout his tenure at Milton Keynes. Perez presently is 125 points behind the Dutch driver in the championship standings. Rumors have surfaced that Red Bull might be looking for a new driver as Verstappen’s teammate.

However, the Dutch driver has outperformed his past teammates as well. Verstappen annihilated Pierre Gasly in the first half of the 2019 season and outperformed Alex Albon later on. The last time Max Verstappen had been out-scored by a teammate in Formula 1 was by Daniel Ricciardo in 2018. As such, it would be difficult for any driver to challenge the reigning world champion.

Thus, Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to be teammates with his father, Jos if given the opportunity. However, such a dream pairing at Red Bull would not be possible; perhaps the father-son duo can continue racing together in other categories. Fans would love to see the Verstappen pair racing together for victory in the future.
