“Max Verstappen needs to be careful,” Former F1 driver warns Dutchman ahead of the second leg of 2022 F1 season
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen is on the top of his game this year and former Formula One driver Juan Pablo Motoya has cautioned the Dutchman to not let the success of the first half get to his head.
The 2022 F1 season is 13 rounds down and Red Bull has got a commanding lead over its rival Ferrari in both the Championships. Max Verstappen is leading the Driver Championship and has got a huge buffer of 80 points over nearest rival Charles Leclerc.
The story is even better in the Constructors Championship, the Milton-Keynes-based team has got a lead of a massive 97 points over Ferrari. Red Bull has dominated the competition this year and Montoya believes that while the RB18 and Verstappen have done a brilliant job, he sees that the team hardly makes any silly errors.
Montoya while praising the team said, “Red Bull is pretty amazing.” I think what Red Bull has, is that they are not afraid of losing. They have this attitude, doesn’t matter if we get it wrong, we tried. Where Ferrari’s mentality is, let’s not screw it up, ’cause we can win.”
Max Verstappen has been warned of Ferrari and Mercedes threats during the second half of the 2022 F1 season
Max Verstappen is flying high after putting significant distance between himself and the rest of the chasing pack but Juan Pablo Montoya has stated that the 24-year-old should not get complacent during the remaining nine races, as according to him, Ferrari and Mercedes are going to come hard out of the blocks.
While issuing a warning to Verstappen, Montoya said, “I think Max needs to be careful not to get into the comfortable zone of just scoring points.”
Formula One is an unpredictable sport where the tide can shift at any moment and Montoya who knows a thing or two about the sport is aware of this fact and thus has asked the prolific Red Bull driver to stay as sharp as possible during the upcoming business end of the season.
At the moment, Max Verstappen is comfortably in the lead of the Drivers Championship, and considering what Montoya has said about Ferrari and Mercedes, it is safe to assume that the two wounded teams are going to do everything in their power to become a nuisance for Verstappen and Co.
How much of a challenge do you think Ferrari and Mercedes are going to be able to pose to the mighty Red Bull and its prized driver?
