Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion and current championship leader, recently shared a heartwarming story during a Twitch session. In this bedtime tale, Verstappen revealed how he went to great lengths to rescue his beloved feline companion.
Known for his fearless driving and straightforward demeanor, Max Verstappen showcased a tender side as he recounted the extraordinary rescue mission. He cheekily named his Bengal cats “Lewis” and “Toto” after his Formula 1 rival and kept them in his Monaco apartment.
The Red Bull driver discovered that one of his precious cats had gone missing one evening. After a frantic search, he heard familiar meows behind a closed door. Relief washed over him, but concern quickly followed. The door led to a small closet room with a single entrance.
However, a fallen baby bed had jammed the door shut, making it impossible to open. Determined to reach his frightened feline companion, Verstappen took matters into his own hands.
With a hammer in hand, Verstappen made a “lovely hole” in the door, granting him access to his distressed cat. The noise and commotion during the rescue operation may have added to the cat’s anxiety. Verstappen’s determination made him almost break his shoulder while squeezing through the door. Fans have heard this and reacted with intriguing comments.
Max Verstappen jokes that he is not the best guy to repair or rip things apart
“The cat must have been so scared, though, with all that noise in the dark. I almost broke my shoulder trying to go through the door – it didn’t really work out.” The Dutchman said, “So now I have a door with a massive hole in it! I tried [to take it off the hinges] but the thing is, you have to open the door slightly and unhook it.”
Reflecting on the aftermath, Verstappen humorously admitted his limited repair skills “I’m probably not the best guy out there to repair or rip something apart. I do know that,” he said. The door now featured an unmistakable, sizable hole. He tried to remove it from its hinges but quickly realized that his talents were better suited to the racetrack than DIY endeavors.
This endearing tale offers a glimpse into Verstappen’s caring nature. Beyond his high-speed pursuits on the Formula 1 circuit, he is a devoted cat parent, willing to go to extraordinary lengths for his furry companions.
