“I just want to drive there in real life,” Max Verstappen charged up for Miami GP qualifying
The fifth round of Formula 1 is on the horizon and the action is ready to unveil in the streets of Miami. This is the first time that the sport visits the city and the excitement about the race just can’t be contained. The track is laid out after overcoming various hard ships and is built after a two month long project. The Miami circuit is a 19-turn track that has the Hard Rock Stadium at its heart and will have an average speed of around 223km/hr or 138mph.
The addition of the Miami Grand Prix to the Formula 1 calendar means it will be the 11th Formula 1 venue in America. Ahead of the weekend, no team or driver on the grid has any prior experience about the track and it remains a mystery for the whole paddock. This makes the practice session across the weekend even more essential for each driver to learn references on track. Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen is one of the favourites to claim the top podium position come the end of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.
Red Bull Off-Track Activities Keep Max Verstappen Busy
Ahead of the weekend, Formula 1 threw a grand opening party to inaugurate the Miami Grand Prix. Max Verstappen at the event talked about his views on the Miami circuit and his expectations from it. The reigning world champion in reply, said “I’ve only driven on a simulator. I just want to drive there in real life and see how it feels and how the grip is.”
The Red Bull keeps its recruits busy to whichever destination it travels. Out in the States, Sergio Perez took a roadtrip in RB7 from New York to Miami. Max Verstappen competed in a Swamp buggy racing alonside Yuki Tsunoda. The Dutch driver along with his Mexican team mate, also threw the ceremonial pitch at the Miami Marlin game against Arizona.
The Milton Keynes based team come to Miami after tasting the success of a 1-2 finish in Imola. The Miami track layout is said to favour the Red Bull package highly. The drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will ensure that they are a force to be reckoned with in Miami.
