Max Verstappen regrets making ‘one embarrassing mistake’ in 2023

Dutch driver Max Verstappen was crowned the world champion for the third consecutive time in a row after scoring one of the most dominant seasons ever in the history of Formula 1. Despite winning a whopping total of 19 races in the season out of 22 total races, Verstappen made a small error at the British GP, a mistake that the 26-year-old still regrets.
Although Verstappen’s performance in the entire season was untouched and flawless, a driver is bound to make a few small errors from time to time. The Dutchman recalled the incident where he collided with the pit wall at Silverstone [British GP] while leaving the pits during Q1 of the qualifying. Max Verstappen termed this incident as ‘rather embarrassing’.

Despite Red Bull winning 21 out of the 22 races, the Austrian team lost a crucial victory at the Singapore GP due to a few errors. The loss at the Singapore GP cost the team an opportunity to score a perfect run by winning all the races. The 26-year-old recalled how things didn’t go perfectly at the Marina Bay circuit as he and the team messed up the set-up for the conditions.

Max Verstappen claimed he couldn’t do better than this for the next season
The season of 2024 will include an astonishing total of 24 races for the drivers over the year. Although Verstappen won 19 races this season, he claimed that realistically there wasn’t much room for improvement for him as the sport wasn’t always about winning all the races. The Dutchman dwelled upon self-improvement and improvement within the car for any sort of betterment in the next season.
Verstappen additionally highlighted that even if the team won ten races but still had contention with rival teams for the championship title, that was sufficient according to him. The 26-year-old also talked about the rollercoaster of competition from other teams on the grid over the season to the front-of-the-pack team of Red Bull.
Max Verstappen has already been working and looking forward to the next season’s performance as the teams get their hands on quickly developing their machinery for the next season over the winter break. In addition to enjoying the break, Verstappen still aims at possibly replicating the performance of this season if not improving on his dominant performance.
