Max Verstappen reportedly threatens to leave Red Bull in case Helmut Marko is axed

The Christian Horner and Helmut Marko saga has dragged on for quite a while, and both have recently downplayed the power struggle rumors. While a lot has already been said about the fascinating prospect by several people, it has come to light that Max Verstappen has reportedly threatened to leave Red Bull if Marko is shown the exit door.

In recent times, rumors have prevailed that have suggested that Christian Horner wants all the power at Red Bull to himself and, thus, is looking to oust Helmut Marko from his current role on the team. Moreover, the rumors have also picked up pace because of the disagreements the two have had so far during the ongoing 2023 F1 season.

While Horner recently downplayed rumors of friction between him and Marko by saying, “We’ve always enjoyed a very strong and open relationship, [and] of course, there are things that we disagree on now and again, but I think that’s healthy. He still has a very valuable role that he plays within the team and there is absolutely no intent or desire from me, or anyone within the team, to see that change.”

Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 world champion, has, as per F1insider.com, made it known that he will not think twice before leaving Red Bull if Marko is shown the exit door in the upcoming years. The 20-year-old has tremendous respect for the 80-year-old veteran of the pinnacle of motor racing. He ardently feels Marko is a vital cog in the Red Bull setup.

Max Verstappen has had a wonderful 2023 F1 season

While Max Verstappen is believed to be not happy with the Helmut Marko exit rumors, on a personal note, he has had another tremendous F1 season. He bashed his rivals quite comfortably last year and has done the same during the ongoing campaign. Verstappen secured the 2023 world championship during this month’s Qatar Grand Prix weekend.

Verstappen has operated in a league of his own behind the wheel of the RB19 this year, and whenever he has taken that car for a spin, he has mesmerized his fans worldwide. Moreover, seeing his dominance this year, several pundits of the sport have multiple times admitted that he is a special talent who is destined for great things.

Max Verstappen, Christian Horner, and Helmut Marko are a killer combination at Red Bull. Despite all the negative rumors, it would be in the team’s best interest if its hierarchy can keep them working on the same page. There are very few people in the F1 paddock who have the kind of know-how that Verstappen, Horner, and Marko possess.
