Reigning Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen is still working for Red Bull Racing during Pirelli’s tyre test, so he can’t leave the Austria just yet. Before 2023, this might be crucial for the Dutchman.

The 2022 tyres from Pirelli are not yet a favourite of Verstappen’s. This F1 season, the Italian manufacturer will once again provide the tyres, but the 18-inch wheels continue to significantly increase understeer. Pirelli will work with Verstappen and others to find a solution in 2023. Understeer has not pleased the Dutchman.

Pirelli will test the tyres for 2023 for 25 days in 2022. These test sessions feature participation from nine teams ,Haas is the lone holdout. Two complete days are allotted for each team to try out the new tyre. Some teams complete the two days on a single circuit, while others split the two days across two circuits.

On Tuesday, Verstappen will race for Red Bull in the Red Bull Ring.  Verstappen will try the new tyres personally behind the wheel of the RB18. Only Tuesday will see Red Bull in play. It will also commit to spending an additional day at Monza testing for Pirelli later on in the season.

Red Bull doesn’t test alone in the Red Bull Ring. McLaren and Williams are also on schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday. The two days are completed by the two teams right after one another. Only Wednesday will see Alpine in motion. On the Imola circuit a day earlier this year, the France-based racing team was already in work.
