The 25-year-old looks set on winning his third consecu tive world title this year. Verstappen also has ventured outside of F1, such as sponsoring drivers in DTM. Now, the two-time world champion has his eyes set on his own racing team.
Presently, Verstappen.com Racing supports several racing drivers. The first endeavor began in sim racing with Team Redline before the Dutch driver joined hands with DTM racing driver, Thierry Vermeulen. Max Verstappen’s venture even has a foothold in the GTWC Sprint series. Moreover, Max’s father Jos Verstappen, races under his son’s sponsorship banner in rallying.
Max Verstappen made it clear that he wants to have his own racing team. The two-time world champion eyed GT3 class racing as the platform to launch his brand new team. Although, the 25-year-old did not discard other initiatives in the future. He told formule1.nl, “The ultimate goal is to set up your own racing team. We will start in the GT3 class and then at some point we will see where the ship is stranded.”

Max Verstappen wants an alternative to karting to move up the motorsport ladder

The two-time world champion made it clear that the objective of his GT3 team will be to emerge victorious in the series. Although, more importantly, Max Verstappen insisted that he was eager to establish an alternative route to motorsports via sim racing. The Dutch driver wanted to lay the foundation to make GT3 a stepping stone for sim racers as they made their way in the world of racing.
Max Verstappen explained, “If I do something, I want to do it right. I want to win, also with this. And the point is that I can create a stepping stone from the SIM racing to the GT3. So that you can not only end up in motorsport by karting because that costs a lot of money at the moment.” As stated by the Red Bull driver, sim racing would provide a more accessible and affordable platform for young enthusiasts who want to achieve the dream of potentially making it to Formula 1.
Thus, Max Verstappen remains eager on setting up his own racing team. The two-time world champion not only wants to win in GT3 but wants to establish an alternative route to the world of motorsport. Although, this is an ambitious target and it would potentially take a few years before Verstappen’s dream of a more accessible path to racing becomes effective.
