The cold-laden Las Vegas GP was a grand success, after all, due to the amazing fan attendance and racing action at the Nevadan circuit. Multiple people addressed major issues regarding temperature and timings on multiple occasions. The winner Max Verstappen, also talked about the inclusion of Las Vegas GP in the F1 calendar and talked about a few changes.
The reigning champion exclaimed that the time shift from moving to the EST time zone to the GST time zone was tiring for the drivers and the teams, especially towards the end when the season was almost over. When quizzed on what changes Verstappen would like to the Las Vegas GP, he renounced the idea of a date change for the third American race.
The timing for sure, the other thing for next year maybe that is not possible, but to maybe make it a bit better travelling also to Abu Dhabi, because at the moment it’s such a big time shift that, especially at the end of the season when everyone is already a bit tired, I think it’s a little bit much.
Verstappen said, as reported by planetf1.com.
The Dutchman also talked about a potential American tour ahead of the three American races for the increase in ticket sales, especially in the American region. Verstappen renounced that the 12-hour shift in the time zone was way too much for himself and asked for a solution.
So maybe it would be ideal to find a different kind of date because I find that maybe we need to do more of an American tour. Maybe for ticket sales, I don’t know if that’s ideal. So maybe we can find a bit of a solution there. I think the 12 hour time zone shifts and also completely different timings for racing also is… I find that a bit much
Sergio Perez also talked about a change in the American weekend of Las Vegas
The Mexican counterpart of Verstappen, Sergio Perez, also resonated with his teammate. Perez raised important issues, such as the exorbitant traveling distances between the two countries, and asked for a shift in the order of races so as to not travel so much.
Checo also claimed that the race in Las Vegas was near his city, Guadalajara, and was just two hours away. Hence, Sergio Perez talked about a great ending to the season as the last race would be so close to his home city.
The third American Race of Las Vegas was indeed a grand success due to the sheer support from the American crowd of Formula 1. Although many fans trolled the weekend, the numbers still proved an amazing point to the critiques of the Las Vegas GP. Hence, F1 continues to race in America despite the unnecessary backlash.
