Former Red Bull teammates Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have had a bittersweet relationship throughout their careers in Formula 1, as far as the fans are concerned. Daniel was in the Austrian outfit even before Max came in, but once the Dutchman entered and started making giant splashes because of his talent, Daniel felt side-tracked. The Australian finally decided to leave the to-performing team for good at the end of 2018 when Renault offered him a massive deal to drive for them. Daniel’s contract with the French outfit made him one of the highest-paid racers on the grid.
Fast forward to 2023, Daniel Ricciardo changed teams once again when he shifted to McLaren from Renault before 2021. The racer drove for the papaya army for the 2021 and 2022 seasons until they prematurely ended his contract because they could not see the expected results. Daniel had to come back to Red Bull due to the lack of a prospective seat at any of the F1 teams. This time, he got offered a reserve driver role where he needed to help Max Verstappen and his current teammate Sergio Perez with the developments on their Red Bull racecar.
Max Verstappen spoke about Daniel Ricciardo coming back to Red Bull as he claimed to be excited to have the Aussie ‘back in the family’. The two appear to have sorted out their differences ever since Daniel left Red Bull in 2018. And recently, fans came across a video of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo that gave them all the butterflies! They even cooked up crazy conspiracy theories saying that Max might actual be in love with Daniel.
