Two filming days can be used annually by F1 teams for commercial purposes. Teams are restricted to 100 km of running each day and are required to utilize tires that are not race-specific. Just a few days after winning the world championship for the second time, Max Verstappen participated in a filming day in October by piloting Red Bull’s 2013 F1 automobile around the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

For the 2013 Formula One season, Red Bull produced a Formula One racing engine called the RB9. The successor to the Red Bull RB8, which won the World Championship, it represents the ninth generation of Red Bull vehicles. The vehicle was piloted by Mark Webber, an Australian, and Sebastian Vettel. On the RB9, however, the 2.4-liter V8 engine is significantly noisier.

The naturally ventilated Renault V8 engine of the RB9 triggered surrounding noise pollution monitors. Because of noise complaints brought on by Max Verstappen’s filming day, Imola circuit officials were compelled to pay a fee. According to Elena Penazzi, councilor for the Autodrome, Tourism, and Citizen Services of Imola, “The Red Bull event was the only time the Autodrome created noise in the last year, always maintaining under the limit, despite the various activities carried out.”  She proceeded to add, ““On 12 October, Red Bull showed up with an older car than the current one and the limits were exceeded. It was a matter of a few laps.”
