The McLaren squad had an amazing end to the season of 2023 due to the mid-season comeback from the team. The Woking-based team has two exciting talents in its driver lineup. However, tensions could soon arise for the British team. Now, McLaren CEO Zak Brown has shared his opinions on the potential issues between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

The American asserted that the team was not concerned with the tensions growing between the two young drivers. Additionally, Brown commented on the growing competitiveness between the two drivers during any given race week. He also challenged the fact that down the road both drivers might have different interests and look after it.

Not a concern, there's an awareness that anytime you have two drivers that one is going to have to beat the other at some weekends, They're super competitive right now, you feel a real energy around them driving for the team. We know there will be a day, probably sooner rather than later, when they're looking after their own interests.
Brown said, as reported by motorsport.com.

In addition to this, Brown insisted that the team principal Andrea Stella, and his strengths were capable of handling driver management within the team. The ‘healthy competitiveness’ between the two drivers would stay in the team according to the 52-year-old.

I feel Andrea's and my strengths are around driver management, so I think we can get ahead of that and manage it to make sure it stays a healthy competitiveness.

Zak Brown claimed that McLaren had a healthy conversation

Both Norris and Piastri have raced well with each other and did not cause any major problems or collisions around the season. However, on one occasion at Monza, the two drivers had a bout where they touched each other’s car. Anyhow, immediately after the race, the crew was involved in a conversation about the status quo.

Zak Brown highlighted that the team had a very healthy, no-sweat conversation within themselves after the incident. The team reiterated the disappointment of the crash and ensured that this would not happen for the second or third time between the two young drivers on the grid.

McLaren has shown amazing improvements in terms of pace and performance after the mid-season break. The team has shown its capabilities to challenge the front-runners down the season and aim at potentially competing for the championship in the following season of Formula 1. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri would be hoping to fight for wins next season.
