McLaren is gearing up to end their 2023 Formula 2 season on a high and how! The papaya squad has revealed they would be introducing a new livery just for the grand finale of this year’s F1 Championship where they are focused on ending up above Aston Martin in the Constructors’ Standings. The special livery has been designed by 33-year-old Saudi creative artist and designer Nujood Al-Otaibi. She is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and is a celebrated painter in her circle.

Al-Otaibi has an interesting story that propelled her towards taking up artistry as her career. She has a hearing disability since she was 5 years of age. But her father, also a painter, never asked her to settle for anything other than where her passion lies, just because she had a disability. Now, Nujood Al-Otaibi has been discovered by McLaren’s ‘Driven By Change’ campaign, which they had announced in 2021. The initiative showcases diversity amidst the spirit of motorsports.

As McLaren had initiated their Drive tby Change campaign two years ago at the Abu Dhabi GP, it is only befitting that they chose to unveil their livery made by artist Nujood Al-Otaibi at this year’s race in the middle-eastern country. The 33-year-old took to her Instagram page and shared a heartfelt message for the McLaren team in the caption of her post.

My dream team! The hardworking people behind this project are one of a kind I have been loving working with them. Thank you for believing in me and for turning my dreams into reality. Thank you for giving me a platform to express myself, I love you!

In other news, McLaren had had an unimpressive outing in Las Vegas last weekend since Lando Norris got into an incident that led him to DNF from the race. Still, rookie driver Oscar Piastri turned out to be their saving grace as he got 2 points with a P10 finish at the nighttime race on the Vegas Strip. As of now, the Standings show that McLaren are leading Aston Martin by 11 points. But it remains to be seen if they do manage to maintain their P4 position at the end of the Abu Dhabi grand finale or if they lose the place to AMR.
