The first race of the 2023 season has begun, and McLaren is already in deep trouble. The Bahrain GP is underway, and Oscar Piastri, the new McLaren driver, suffered an engine issue and was eliminated from the race. Lando Norris, on the other hand, had a poor start. McLaren is in last place.
Ahead of the season, Lando Norris admitted the car needs development, and the team is not where they want to be. He mentioned that they might be a midfield team and that he made peace with that. But the team clearly did not see this coming, little did they know they would have severe problems during the race.
The McLaren fans are troubled during a time like this. From holding a support group on Twitter to not continuing to watch the race, they are expressing their emotions. Lando Norris’ prediction to be the top midfield team did not happen. In fact, the team is in a worse situation now. Though the team was rational about their performance for the 2023 season, this is quite a difficult position to be in for them.

It has been a painful day for McLaren. Oscar Piastri’s first Formula One race is over. His car was retired due to electronic issues. The Australian racing driver would not have expected this. The team tries to keep their heads down and work with Lando Norris’ car. But not much has been happening. The fans are restless.
This is not how the team wanted to start the season. Though there is, a long way to go, the team was unfortunate to start their season on the back foot. McLaren fans are trying to cope with this situation. However, the team will bring upgrades soon and hope their problem is fixed.
