F1 is a peculiar sport where several kinds of games take place on-track, as well as off it. The off-track antics are mainly related to mind games and in light of this, it has come to be known that manufacturers like Honda and Mercedes recently pressured the FIA to change the engine allocation from four to three for 2024.
The F1 commission has not approved the proposal to maintain four engines for the upcoming campaign, despite there being an addition in the total number of events this year.
As per Soymotor, it is reportedly believed that Honda and the Brackley-based Mercedes F1 team asked the FIA to change the allocation to three with the intention of putting pressure on Ferrari during the upcoming campaign of the sport.
Ferrari’s engine is expected to have a life of at least six thousand kilometers, but this year, it will have to reach 7.5 to make things work. This is where the lights of Honda and Mercedes believe they can get the jump on them.
Ferrari could come up with a few positive surprises during the 2024 F1 season
While Honda and Mercedes reportedly asked the FIA to change the engine allocation from four to three for 2024, the Charles Leclerc-led Ferrari outfit is looking in good shape ahead of the upcoming campaign.

As per the latest that has come out of the Ferrari camp, it is believed that the work around the SF-24 is going on at full tilt. Moreover, if things pan out well for them in the upcoming weeks/months, they could be seen in the championship fight.
