The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team recently came across shocking news after learning that they had been scammed by a 28-year old person.

Back in March, a Twitter account, by the name Centurion Lewis, posed to be a 20-year old, huge Lewis Hamilton fan, and also said that he had been suffering from cancer for a long time.

In March, one of his statements on Twitter read that his cancer had further spread into his body, making his condition worse, and he had started to gain a lot of sympathy all over social media because of the same.

Later in July, he announced that he had been in a car crash which gained him even more sympathy, and he finally had the team’s attention. After learning about his worsening condition, Mercedes decided to call him to meet the team in Brackley, which he also announced on Twitter, again. Two days after meeting the team, it was announced on his Twitter handle that he had passed away due to a “sudden decline in his health.”

However, in a shocking turn of events, another Twitter page by the handle @CytrusF1 revealed that everything about CenturionLewis was fake, he was, actually, a 28-year person named Liam T, who has a wife and two children, never had cancer or a car accident, and most shockingly, is alive.

After learning that what all had happened was fake, the team took down all of the Tweets they had made for the supposed cancer patient, and there was mass confusion among the fans.

Here is the thread that revealed everything;

It also turned out that he is the cousin of Titus Bramble, an English footballer, and that he never actually went off social media, but made other fake accounts, supplying everyone with fake information about himself.

Other than getting to meet the team in Brackley, he also had access to the Hungarian Grand Prix, and most of all, had a lot of financial support because of the donations made in his name. A lot of fans were agitated about the same stating that the money collected for that could have actually been used for someone in need.

There have been no official statements from anyone till now, and absolutely no action has been taken legally, but it is proven that he is in fact, alive, and faked the entire incident.
