It is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend after a four-week hiatus. The wait is finally over. The Formula 1 teams and the drivers have reached Baku. And a certain team is busy honing their ping-pong skills. Mercedes AMG Petronas shared a video of their star drivers, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell, playing ping-pong on their social media platforms.

The duo were having fun while playing table tennis before the big weekend. Fans were quick to notice how both Hamilton and Russell seemed relaxed and in a good mood. Perhaps there is something the team is withholding about the W14 car. Well, one can speculate. The four-week break due to the cancelation of the Chinese GP gave the teams ample time to work on their cars.

The video of the Mercedes drivers playing ping-pong got fans talking. The team captioned the clip “Are we racing or are we playing ping-pong.” The fans believe it is a reference to Sebastian Vettel’s radio message from the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix. Vettel was frustrated with Daniel Ricciardo and said over the team radio, “If I don’t avoid that he is just going straight into my car. Honestly, what are we doing? Racing or ping pong?” The fans were amused by this.

The fans were quick to notice the Vettel reference and responded, “You have to invite Vettel for a ping pong party during the winter break” and “Is it just me….or do you also incredibly miss Seb? No, because I can understand you.” Some fans called out the team for not quoting Vettel.

The fans were happy with the Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s content. Some of their reactions were “I am never happier than whenever we get to see them together, they’re SO good”, “Good to see driving playing together & enjoying. Builds up unity & bond among the team. Keep it up. More such content plz”, “I can’t stop watching it, 11 times in a row haha” and “Lovely to see you having a friendly game of ping-pong together guys.” Let’s take a look at more below,
