“How did he get an f1 seat” – Fans merciless as hometown hero Logan Sargeant finishes dead LAST in Miami GP qualifying
Logan Sargeant will be starting from P20 for the Miami GP after being knocked out of Q1.
Logan Sargeant
The Miami GP is the first home race for American F1 driver Logan Sargeant. The 22-year-old lived just a few kilometers away from the streets of the Miami Autodrome. Subsequently, expectations were high for the Williams driver in front of his home crowd. However, things seem not to have gone as planned for Sargeant.
Logan was the first car to leave the pits at the start of Qualifying in a bid to get a good result for his team. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old simply lost out on luck as he lost out on progressing to the next round by just two-tenths of a second. The American driver was surprised when he was informed of this result. Logan Sargeant‘s engineer cited a close pack for this result.
From P5 to P20, drivers were separated by just a margin of 7 tenths, demonstrating how tight the F1 midfield is this season. Yet this remains a disappointing session for Sargeant as it is the fifth consecutive time when he is out-qualified by teammate Alex Albon—definitely not a result the 22-year-old wanted in front of his friends and family.

“I giggled” – Fans ruthless as Logan Sargeant is knocked out of Q1
Fans on Twitter did not show any sympathy towards the American driver. One user wondered how the 22-year-old managed to secure a seat in Formula 1 in the first place. The user said, “This sargeant lad is awful how did he get an f1 seat.” While another fan was rather amused to see Logan staring from the back of the grid at his home race. The fan tweeted, “Sargeant out in q1 finishing p20 AT HIS HOME RACE?? i giggled.”
Similarly, one user tweeted their views over the American driver as they believed Logan was not good enough for the pinnacle of motorsport. The user stated, “Sargeant is #notgood.” While another fan mocked the Williams driver for being surprised over getting eliminated in Q1 for the Miami GP. The fan replied, “Sargeant being shocked at p20 is literally peak comedy like u can’t make it up.”
Thus, Logan Sargeant will start from last place on the grid for his home race. The 22-year-old expected a lot more from this weekend as he raced in the streets he grew up in. Now, the American driver will have to give his everything during the race on Sunday to bring home a decent result for his team in front of his home crowd.
