The Miami Grand Prix has been one of the most promoted and hyped venues thus far and sees F1 return to its traditional format, to the joy of fans and the paddock alike. It is also where Ferrari announced a new upgrade to their car and claimed to have discovered their lack of pace, namely their car’s floor.
However, rather than for the significant improvement they were expected to display, Ferrari and their prodigious talent Charles Leclerc are making headlines for all the wrong reasons. They looked strong in FP1, with their upgrades showing potential. However, the following practice session did not go to plan for the team from Maranello whatsoever.
Along with Max Verstappen setting yet another strong benchmark, showing just how far ahead Red Bull is from Ferrari, things went from bad to worse as Leclerc veered off in turn 7 during his flying lap, and put his Ferrari into the wall courtesy of a tank-slapper, red flagging the session. Leclerc was the second one to lose the car while going flat out, reminiscent of Nico Hulkenberg in FP1.

Here is how fans reacted to Charles Leclerc’s crash in FP2
Charles Leclerc is aspiring to make a comeback after his dismal start to the season. He started the season declaring his intent to challenge for the title again, but Ferrari’s substandard car placed them well below the top contenders on the grid. Leclerc and the team made a comeback in Baku and snatched two poles and a podium. Leclerc’s success was short-lived, however, as fans were all over him after his incident.
The majority of fans have drawn a parallel to Leclerc’s mistake at the French Grand Prix in 2022, where he crashed similarly and conceded the lead in the race to Verstappen. Several also have pointed out his tendency to make errors, invoking the likes of Baku 2019, Monaco 2021 qualifying, and several other instances where he similarly binned his car. The Monegasque must rectify this aspect of his racecraft should he aspire to challenge the likes of Verstappen for the title in the coming years.
