“Way too late guys,” Lewis Hamilton puts the blame on Mercedes for being knocked out of Miami GP Q2 as George Russell SQUEEZES in
Lewis Hamilton cited Mercedes's late call as the reason for his elimination in Q2.

Lewis Hamilton headed into the 2023 Miami GP with hopes to turn around a rather underwhelming start to the season. The British driver has only bagged in a single podium in Australia. However, things have only gotten worse for the 38-year-old as he failed to make it out of Q2 during Qualifying in the first American race of the season.
Hamilton put in a lap time of 1:27.975 in Q2, which was over a tenth slower than his lap in the previous session. Subsequently, the 7-time world champion failed to match his rivals and settled for P13 for tomorrow’s race. This comes as a major blow to the 38-year-old as he is out-qualified by his teammate George Russell for the Miami GP
The British driver pointed fingers at the Mercedes pit wall for this qualifying result. Lewis Hamilton believed that Mercedes waited too long to let him go out for a second run in Q2. A frustrated Hamilton stated on team radio, “We left that for way too late guys.” Perhaps the news of Russell going into the Q3 top 10 shootout further acted as salt in the wounds for the 7-time world champion.

“It’s such a joke, always Russell the lucky one” – Fans divided over Lewis Hamilton’s comments

Fans on Twitter were split over Hamilton’s remarks. Some agreed that the Silver Arrows caused the 38-year-old to be in this situation. One user said, “Always find a way to screw him up.” At the same time, another fan mentioned how George always comes out with better luck at the Silver Arrows. The fan replied, “It’s such a joke, always Russell the lucky one.”
On the other hand, one fan believed that Hamilton was at fault for losing out on his run and shouldn’t be complaining about the team. The fan commented, “His mistake, not sure what he’s complaining about.” Moreover, one user accused Lewis of blaming Toto Wolff’s team on every occasion that doesn’t go in his way. The user wrote, “Always crying and Blaming the team.”
Lewis Hamilton seems frustrated after what he believes was a strategic error by Mercedes. The 38-year-old was confident that he could’ve easily made it into Q3 without the late call by the Silver Arrows. The 7-time world champion didn’t seem to be in a good mood after seeing his teammate progress into Q3. Though it remains to be seen if Hamilton can have a good recovery drive on Sunday.
