The Formula 1 2022 season has concluded five rounds of the world championship in its new era. Last race weekend, the cars of Formula 1 arrived in the United States for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. The event was a huge success in a city that thrives on sporting action. It was treated by appearances by various celebrities and was the most viewed Formula 1 broadcast in the USA.
The Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen grabbed the victory at the maiden Miami race. This track was a new spectacle for each constructor and driver on the grid. Thus, translating into no prior information or data available about it to any personnel in the paddock. The McLaren driver, Lando Norris expressed his views about it by saying, “It was tricky. Honestly, I think it is a good race track. It is just the track surface is not what it needs to be. It is not at the level it needs to be for Formula 1.”

Miami Grand Prix : A Weekend To Forget For The McLaren driver, Lando Norris
Mclaren had a disappointing outing in Miami with both its cars finishing out of the points. Lando Norris retired from the race due to his collision with Pierre Gasly, while Daniel Ricciardo finished P13. The young Brit further further expressed disappointment by saying “We come here, everyone expects a great race and we just can’t do it because of the surface we are racing on. You see every time someone goes a little bit wide, you lose two seconds. I think also the track is tearing up and literally turning into crap so we have to start using all these kerbs because if you stay on it, it is just like oil or something.”
The Miami weekend also witnessed major crashes involving Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman suffered a 51G impact crash. Lando Norris spoke about improving the track by adding “It was just terrible so they just need to rethink it and hopefully resurface it with something we know is actually working and gives good grip, makes good racing and things like that. Then I think it will be an even better weekend next year.”
Coming into Miami, both Norris and Mclaren were looking to build on a podium finish in Imola. Nevertheless, the points slipped out of their hands and they look forward to bounce back at the Spanish GP up ahead.
