Mick Schumacher is not getting upgrades on his VF-22 for Hungary and this has been recently confirmed by Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner.

The upgrades will only be made available on Kevin Magnussen’s car during the upcoming weekend and Mick has been asked to wait a bit longer to get the upgrades for his car.

The budget cap that has been put in place by Formula One ahead of the 2022 season has somewhat leveled the playing field, but for smaller teams like Haas, it is still difficult to compete with the big boys.

The 2022 F1 season is 12 rounds down and Haas has been the only team that has not brought any upgrades on its car yet. However, to everyone’s surprise, the team has not only been able to compete with the mid-field teams but has also been able to score points every now and then.

After 12 rounds the American team has been able to put 34 points on the board and in the process has managed to overtake Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri.

The upgrade that is coming to Hungary has been planned for some time but has been delayed for one reason or the other. Haas has got the most time in the wind tunnel because they finished at the bottom last season and they are thus cautious about bringing upgrades that might turn out to be useless.

Kevin Magnussen is getting the upgrade on his car and team principal Guenther Steiner while revealing the news has said,” The driver who is higher in the championship will get the update first.”

The ploy by the team makes sense as Kevin Magnussen has been the more consistent driver and has currently got 22 points to his name, whereas the young Mick Schumacher has only started hitting his strides in the last few races and is on 12 points.

Moreover, Steiner has indicated that the team at the moment does not have the resources to get the upgrades on both cars but has assured Mick Schumacher that he will also get upgrades soon.
