Mika Hakkinen proudly claims his son and daughter might soon see grand entry into Formula One

Mika Hakkinen, the former McLaren driver wishes to see his children soon in Formula One. His dreams of earning a third world championship as a part of the Hakkinen family got broken when his elder son – Hugo Hakkinen gave up on karting. But now, Mika Hakkinen has regained hope in the form of his daughter Ella and son Daniel. Ella Hakkinen is just 12 but she has already taken steps towards making her father proud. Hakkinen is very optimistic about her future in Formula 1, especially concerning female entry into the sport.

Formula One has recently established the Formula One Academy exclusively for women. It is an initiative to give young talented women with potential a platform to showcase their talent. Moreover, with Lewis Hamilton’s urge to use gender-inclusive language in the FIA documents, efforts have already apparently begun to make sure there is female representation in the king class of motorsports.

In one of his recent interviews, Mika Hakkinen said, “My 12-year-old daughter Ella drives, as does my 9-year-old son Daniel. She’s very talented, really special, has a lot of power.” While Mika Hakkinen is very excited about his children’s future in the sport, he does not want them to feel any sort of pressure, and hence takes a very careful approach about their driving.

Mika Hakkinen also talked about why his eldest son, Hugo Hakkinen, left the world of motorsports behind after trying his hands at karting. He said, “Hugo found it too stressful. School, driving – for him they no longer fit together. If he started again today, maybe I would do a few things differently.”
