Oliver Bearman had been the talk of the town following the Saudi Arabian GP. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton had heavily praised the debutant following his performance. Additionally, Multiple people thought that the 18-year-old could possibly join the Haas F1 Team by the 2025 season. Now, Nico Hulkenberg shared his opinions on Bearman’s debut performance. Hulkenberg reckoned that it was way too early to decide if the Debutant could pose a threat to Kevin Magnussen or his job at Haas.
I think it's very early and way too early to say that.Hulkenberg told motorsport.com.
Nico Hulkenberg asserted how Bearman’s F2 career was equally important as his debut in the pinnacle of motorsport. Additionally, the German driver mentioned that if he failed to impress the paddock with his F2 performance, everyone would easily forget his amazing drive at the Saudi Arabian GP. As a result, there was quite a bit of pressure on the 18-year-old following his debut race.
I think he's got a big job on his hands in F2 first of all, because otherwise if he's not doing well there this Jeddah race is going to be forgotten in two days. You know how this business works. So I think quite a bit of pressure on him there to deliver now in F2, actually.
Nico Hulkenberg pinpoints Oliver Bearman’s pace advantage during F1 debut
A majority of the grid was completely praiseful of Oliver Bearman for his performance. Hulkenberg mentioned how Bearman was a Ferrari junior. Subsequently, the German driver mentioned that if he performed equally well in F2, the Briton would ‘definitely’ get a chance in F1.
But he's obviously a Ferrari junior. And if he keeps performing strongly, even in F2, I think he'll definitely get a chance eventually.
Apart from this, Hulkenberg didn’t hesitate to acknowledge the fact that Oliver Bearman was in the second fast challenger on the grid. Hence, this created a pace advantage for the 18-year-old according to the Haas driver. As a result, competing against the Debutant was difficult for the drivers in the middle order of the grid.
He was in the second-best car after all, and you see how powerful and how valuable that is, and what kind of difference that makes.
Oliver Bearman’s stint in Formula 1 ends as Carlos Sainz will return to his Ferrari challenger. Ferrari maintained their lead against Mercedes and McLaren despite the Spaniard’s absence. Hence, Maranello is off to a great start considering the team’s last years struggles. Time will tell about how the rival teams cope up against the top two teams in the constructors’ championship.
