Nico Hulkenberg is a competant F1 driver. The German signed with the Haas F1 team to return to the grid this season after being the reserve driver for Aston Martin. Over the years, Hulkenberg has had stints at several F1 teams, including Williams, Force India (now Aston Martin), and Renault (now Alpine). Now, the 35-year-old has revealed the most challenging seat in Formula 1.

The German driver recalled discussing with Red Bull over a seat alongside Max Verstappen. Hulkenberg was adamant that the two-time world champion remains in a league of his own. This, in turn, makes it a rather difficult task for a driver to be teammates with the Dutchman, a challenge Nico Hulkenberg might not want to take.

He told soymotor.com, “Now, I wouldn’t want to because being Max’s teammate is the ultimate challenge for every driver. Probably the hardest seat on the whole grid.” Hulkenberg’s comments come when Sergio Perez has continued to struggle against Verstappen. The Mexican driver trails behind his world champion teammate by 99 points after just ten races.

The Haas driver mentioned that Verstappen had truly solidified himself as an outstanding driver. Hulkenberg complimented the sheer talent of the two-time world champion and his charisma off the track. Nico Hulkenberg explained, “I see Max as an absolute ‘killer’, he is unbelievably good. He has great natural talent and is also a very personable and charismatic person.”

The 35-year-old was glad to see the Dutch driver achieve exceptional results in F1. Hulkenberg and Verstappen are reckoned to share good relations, with the two often being spotted together in the paddock. Although, fans missed an opportunity to see the two drivers as teammates after the German’s talks with Red Bull never materialized.

Thus, Nico Hulkenberg claimed that being teammates with Max Verstappen is perhaps the hardest job in Formula 1. This can be seen in Sergio Perez’s performances this season or even the results of Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly in the past. Though, Hulkenberg was happy to see the two-time world champion showcase his immense talent on the track.
