Nico Rosberg claims he rejected a Formula E seat after F1 retirement

Nico Rosberg has not competed in motorsport since 2016, ending his racing career with the 2016 F1 championship secured after a major rivalry with his teammate Lewis Hamilton. The German has since turned to more philanthropic causes as well as commenting and analyzing F1 races for Sky Sports.
Nico Rosberg has since shown a great interest in Formula E, becoming a shareholder in 2018 and driving the Gen 2 cars to test them as well. Recently Rosberg revealed that he also had a standing offer to drive in the series immediately following his retirement from F1, initially brought up to his wife.
On the night of my retirement, I got offered to drive in Formula E. Actually the offer went to my wife, and then she told me! But anyways, that was a decline, because obviously, I just stopped racing and didn’t want to get started again straight away.Nico Rosberg said, as reported by motorsportweek.com
Nico Rosberg has taken a major interest in electric vehicles, testing the Rimac Nevera on multiple occasions. The 2016 champ is also a regular appearance at F1 events, sometimes interviewing drivers after the conclusion of the race.
Nico Rosberg optimistic for former rival Lewis Hamilton’s 8th title hopes
Nico Rosberg was one of the defining drivers for Mercedes, as the Brackley-based team first competed with him along with Michael Schumacher for their inaugural seasons. The German further contributed to the team for years, competing in Mercedes’ prime and retiring after an extremely dominant season for the team.
Rosberg’s main rival during his title bids was teammate Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg and Hamilton fought over three titles from 2014 to 2016, with Hamilton winning the first two and Rosberg taking the third in 2016, retiring immediately after.
Seven years later, Hamilton is still competing in the pinnacle of motorsport and the retired Rosberg believes he could attempt a title bid. The former Mercedes driver commended Mercedes’ strength and is optimistic that they could attempt a championship charge.
I believe in Mercedes’ ability because I was there. I know how strong they are. It’s always still the same people. So certainly there is a chance that Hamilton could once again fight for the championship next year.Nico Rosberg said, as reported by news18.com
Mercedes have failed to win a race in 2023 with an unsuccessful concept, failing to bag a Championship for the second consecutive year, their main rivals Red Bull emerging victorious in both campaigns. The eight-time Constructors’ Champions will be hoping for a more successful 2024 season.
