Nico Rosberg claims Netflix’s ‘Drive to Survive’ would have been a ‘disaster’ during his 2016 title-winning run

Nico Rosberg, the former Mercedes driver, wrote his name into the history books when he secured the 2016 F1 world championship in a tight battle against Lewis Hamilton. While this took place quite a few years back, Rosberg has recently come forward and talked about Netflix’s Drive to Survive.
The Netflix show hit the world of F1 a year after Nico Rosberg retired and he feels, that had the show been around during the 2016 title-winning run, it would have been a huge disaster for his career. These days the drivers are required to meet several commitments around the DTS show.
Rosberg ardently feels that the Netflix show would have had an adverse impact on his racing career.

Looking at the reaction of the German racer, it is quite clear that he is extremely grateful that the Drive to Survive show was not around during his racing days. In the current era, the F1 drivers are never really free during a Grand Prix weekend and have several kinds of commitments on a day-to-day basis.

Nico Rosberg feels the DTS series has helped tremendously in growing F1
While Nico Rosberg has admitted to being grateful for not having the Drive to Survive show during his racing days, he has also made it known that the show has had a positive impact on the sport since its inception. He added, “Formula 1 has had an incredible increase in viewership thanks to social media and Netflix, which has been phenomenal.”
The DTS show hit Netflix in 2017 and since then, has got the whole world talking about it. Moreover, the modern generation has only started watching the pinnacle of motor racing because of the excitement and thrill they experienced from watching the sport. America has seen tremendous growth in its F1 fanbase because of Netflix.

Nico Rosberg understands how rapidly the F1 has developed and is pleased that shows like DTS and a few others are also playing a part in adding to the huge fanbase of the sport. In earlier times, F1 was only based around Europe, but since the last decade, it has gripped the whole world.
