Nico Rosberg rubs salt on Sergio Perez’s wounds as he blames Checo for Red Bull’s possible failure to set an F1 record
Former Mercedes World Champion Nico Rosberg took a dig at Sergio Perez and also warned him of his poor form which might hold Red Bull back from achieving a historic feat.
Nico Rosberg, former Formula One champion with Mercedes, claimed that Sergio Perez would cost Red Bull a lot of his performance does not improve. The team has set their precious target in 2023 to achieve a record-breaking clean sweep of 22 Grand Prix victories, and thanks to Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, they have already secured 10 out of 10 wins so far. But the Mexican’s condition does not look good as he is already under fire because of failing to garner the same results as his teammate despite having the same car. And Rosberg just proceeded to sprinkle salt on Checo’s wounds.
The season so far has been dominated by Red Bull. Max Verstappen, the current world champion, has triumphed in eight of the ten races this season, while Sergio Perez has won twice. Rosberg initially responded to Marca’s question regarding Red Bull accomplishing the remarkable feat of winning every race in this season with, “It seems so, right?”
But then, Rosberg cautioned, “The difficulty is that, for the moment, they only have one driver who can win all the races. The other one is always behind with many difficulties.” Checo Perez’s career is presently in jeopardy due to his poor form, thus the German Pundit acknowledged that Perez might provide a problem for Red Bull as they attempt reaching an all-win season for the first time in their F1 history.

After witnessing the phenomenal performance of Max Verstappen this season, Nico Rosberg equated the 25-year-old with the most important names in motorsports history. He said, for him, Verstappen is going to be among the five or six best in the sport. Verstappen, in this season, has matched the number of race wins of Aryton Senna adding himself to the list of drivers. Last year, Max Verstappen put himself up on the most wins for Red Bull in a season along with most wins.
Nico insisted that Sergio is also one of the best drivers on the grid but since the Monaco Grand Prix, he is having problems with himself and his poor performances. Last 5 races Perez has been out of the Qualifying in Q1 sessions very early into qualifications. But has been able to get into the top 10 on several occasions making a slight comeback on his part. Sergio has a lot on his plate to worry about if he wants to keep his seat in 2024.
