“No fighting,” Sergio Perez instructed by Red Bull to not engage in duel with Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen takes the lead from Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez was able to get the better off Max Verstappen in Monaco as he outqualified him and also finished ahead of him in the race. This is something that not a lot of people saw coming but it seems likes Max Verstappen has taken it to heart and want to settle the scores and retain his supremacy. Although the qualifying session didn’t go as he would have wanted to, he has definitely gotten his elbows out.
The reigning world champion qualified behind both Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. But now we have come to terms with Max Verstappen not being the best at qualifying this season. But he knows when to put the foot on the pedal and get the job done. He got a decent start as the lights went out but was still stuck behind Charles Leclerc as Sergio Perez got a healthy lead at the front.
But, as Charles Leclerc pitted, it was going to be knife fight between Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was biding his time before he could conjure up a move. With Sergio Perez struggling with traction, Max didn’t have to wait for a long time as he sent one into Turn 1. From that point on, he built a healthy lead for himself in a matter of couple of laps. But he was also instructed to not fight with Max just like in Spain although there’s enough evidence.

Max Verstappen was not happy after the Monaco weekend but was mature enough to pick up a podium. He, after the race, said, “I didn’t have a great feeling in the car initially but it’s also still a new car and very different to set up than the old cars.”
“I like a lot of front grip, which I don’t really have at the moment – well, sometimes, and around here front grip is very important.”
“But I think we recovered well and you have to accept sometimes when it is not your weekend. You know when you fight for the championship you always have to score points.”
Max Verstappen is very aggressive when it comes to him as a racing driver and this move on Sergio Perez would have made him very happy. Now, he’ll look to finish the job.
