“Not a sport of manipulation,” Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali makes big promises of changing rules to end single team dominance
Stefano Domenicali hints that he has a master plan in place to improve the competition in F1 so that no single team gets to dominate over the others at every race.

As Formula 1 went racing with the 2022 Aerodynamic Technical Regulation Package, it turned out to be a moderate success with the teams coming closer in terms of competition. Aston Martin, who were down in the seventh spot last year, are now second to Red Bull Racing, making this season one of the most entertaining ones in recent times. Amidst these changes, Red Bull have emerged as a solo power that is virtually invincible for its rivals. But F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has assured that the sport and its stakeholders have planned for several amendments and regulations which will be put into action including the upcoming 2026 Engine Regulations.
According to Domenicali, their measures will ensure there will be no single team dominance in the future, so that every team has the same amount of chances to vy for the top spot. And this will also give the drivers a level playing field to fight for the World Drivers Championship. Formula Oneβs new technical regulations have allowed for better wheel-to-wheel racing. If their CEO’s words are anything to go by, the competition is bound to only get even more interesting in the upcoming seasons.
The biggest example of how the fluctuating rules of F1 have made way for newer teams to come out on top is Mercedes’ defeat at the hands of Red Bull. The Brackley outfit had held the record for eight consecutive Constructors’ Championship wins. But last year, the team had a massive fall from grace which they are still recovering from even now. But the Silver Arrows’ downfall has cleared the path for Red Bull to snatch the top spot. But in the next few years, even the Milton Keynes squad might be usurped from their leading place.
Stefano Domenicali’s promise indicates Red Bull’s dominance in F1 might end a lot faster than Mercedes’ did

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says he doubts Red Bull and Max Verstappen will be able to continue dominating F1 as convincingly as they did in 2022. Domenicali stated that Redbullβs supremacy was partly due to the lack of effective opposition including downturn in performance of Mercedes and silly Ferrari team calls. He stated, “The gap is between one team and the others. While the others are very, very close, one team β and that is Red Bull β did an incredible job. Itβs not correct because we cannot be seen as a sport of manipulation.“
However, Domenicali expressed confidence that other teams will catch up with the front-runners as the sport becomes more accustomed with the new rules. Already, the other teams in the grid are getting charged up, with Mercedes getting back to their winning ways with a double podium in Spain and Aston Martin’s Lawrence Stroll letting people know that his vision is to see the Silverstone outfit at the top. Now, it only remains to be seen how the grid looks at the end of the season–whether Red Bull keeps the lead or some newcomer steals the show.
