Aston Martin have come a long way. Last season the team finished 7th in the constructors. Fast forward to the 2023 season, and the team stands second after the first three races, only behind Red Bull. This is a step up for the Silverstone-based team. They seem to have cracked the code. However, Mike Krack, Aston Martin team principal, has revealed that CEO Lawrence Stroll “wants more” from the team.

Aston Martin have three podium finishes from the three races held so far. Fernando Alonso was a beast they unleashed. He delivered the best results for Aston Martin. The team also did their part and gave their drivers a good package. Aston Martin are ahead of Mercedes by nine points. This success has been a boost to perform better. Mike Krack admitted that Lawrence Stroll wants to see them take the next step.

Mike Kick said in a recent interview,“Lawrence’s mission statement is very clear. He has not been having any delay in telling us, ‘When are we going to win the next one?’ Obviously, he is happy we have made a step, but this is not enough for his ambitions. The good thing with Lawrence is you know where you stand – he wants more, and we will have to deliver more.”

Aston Martin finished with strong results at three circuits with different characteristics, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. This is a promising sign for the team, according to Krack. However, he wants to remain cautious. “[We’ve had] three circuits with three characteristics. To be competitive on all three, we are confident we can be on other circuits as well. But the range of circuits [coming up] is very different; you have Baku with [a] huge straight, and then you have Monaco with no straights. These kinds of things will always shift the field a little bit.”

Mike Krack wants to be careful with his conclusions despite AMR23’s brilliant performances so far. Krack insists that the margins are very close. In qualifying, Aston Martin looked decent. Both the cars made it to Q3. On race day, they put up a fight with Mercedes and Ferrari. As per the data collected, they might be the second-fastest team on the grid right now.

Lawrence Stroll is delighted that things are finally coming together for the team. Aston Martin understand the package they have and will continue to improve. They will bring updates over the season to add performance. With this car and the double world champion, Fernando Alonso as their driver, the team might soon get their first win.
