It’s breaking out among the AlphaTauri higher ups at this hour as the team has reportedly has parted ways with Dutch Rookie Driver Nyck De Vries just after months into the F1 season, with the Dutch struggling in the car to put up some decent performances. Nyck’s’ sister has spoken out following reports that her brother has been fired as the driver of F1 team AlphaTauri. The Dutchman was let go after less than a year with the team after failing to please Red Bull’s Helmut Marko, who is in charge of his development. Formula One can be very cruel for the drivers, few races without points could result in the driver being rumored to be axed.

Seychell De Vries, Nyck’s’ sister, appears to have verified the decision of Alpha Tauri on Instagram, posting a photograph of herself next to a portrait of her brother titled “Always got your back” with a love emoji. According to Viaplay member Allard Kalff, De Vries had been fired with immediate effect after Marko lost patience with him – having already given him an ultimatum earlier in the year after failing to top a best finish of 12th this season.

Several media publications had already speculated that Daniel Ricciardo, who has been working as Red Bull’s backup driver behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez this season, was in line to replace the 28-year-old at AlphaTauri. It might not be unexpected to some as there were several rumours of Daniel Ricciardo getting the seat. It only became concrete after Danny Ricc tested with RedBull today in Silverstone with his Number 3 placed on RB19. Should have been a success, Red Bull wasted no time in sacking Nyck De Vries and appointed Daniel Ricciardo for the rest of the year. It will be interesting to see what happens in the remainder of the 2023 F1 season.

With the confirmation of Red Bull’s Sister team parting ways with Nyck De Vries, Red Bull backup driver Daniel Ricciardo has taken up the spot in the AlphaTauri. The Dutchman will be replaced immediately by Daniel Ricciardo as the Honey Badger makes his way back onto the F1 grid. When it comes to its drivers, Red Bull is very ruthless, and it’s always a make-or-break situation. Between 2014 and 2018, the Australian raced for Red Bull, having previously raced with Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) after coming through the junior divisions with Red Bull support.

While Christian Horner insisted earlier that there were no plans to bring Ricciardo back into a Red Bull race seat, the Australian has been given a second chance in F1 by being jumped into AlphaTauri on loan to take the place of De Vries for the second half of the year – the change will be made immediately, with Ricciardo coming back for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
