The spectacle of the Las Vegas Grand Prix has arrived, and with it has brought unique events to the sport. The opening ceremony was staggeringly good, and the venue promises to have more glamorous items on schedule. One such feature of the weekend is the welcome to the paddock for the top 20 drivers in the world, uniquely singular for Las Vegas.

From the large neon sign the size of six basketball courts to an Elvis Presley lookalike startling the drivers, the drivers’ welcome was strikingly good. A drowsy Oscar Piastri was also subjected to this and was pleasantly surprised. When asked what he thought of the reception, the youngest Aussie on the grid rated it a 10/10.

Piastri may have looked half asleep in the interview, but we can expect the 22-year-old to be wide awake from Friday onwards as he looks to achieve another podium finish.

Meanwhile, the Aussie young gun has had possibly the best rookie season since Lewis Hamilton in 2007, achieving two podiums and a sprint win, all three in his very first time on those circuits.

Oscar Piastri hopes brand-new Las Vegas circuit will provide equal ground

Oscar Piastri has impressed heavily in his first-ever season of Formula One, achieving great results all year round. After the upgrades McLaren brought in Austria, the Australian took every opportunity to showcase his exceptional talent, which convinced McLaren to re-sign Piastri until of 2026.

Piastri has faced a challenge all year due to his limited experience on each track. While most drivers have tackled every 2023 circuit, Piastri hasn’t, especially not in an F1 car. Yet, he sees the Las Vegas GP as a potential equalizer. In an interview, the Formula 2 champion highlighted that the unique venue could make for an “interesting” weekend for both drivers and fans.

It should be a fun one, driving in a unique location. I can't wait to see what it looks like. Vegas is another new track for me, but it's new for everyone else, so it should make for an interesting weekend.
Oscar Piastri said, as reported by abc.net

McLaren’s Australian is currently trying to come back from a run of bad luck since his dream weekend in Qatar. After retiring from the United States Grand Prix, the young driver suffered from damage in Mexico, dropping him to 8th. Further misfortune followed as the first lap incident left Piastri at the bottom of the grid in Sao Paulo. Piastri will be looking to turn his fortune around in Las Vegas, the land of luck.
