The McLaren F1 team had a fascinating run during the 2023 season. From starting the campaign in the lower half to ending it with a strong fourth-place finish, the outfit surpassed expectations. While various people have already said a lot about it, Oscar Piastri has also taken the time to shed light on it.

The young Australian alongside Lando Norris was one of the main reasons McLaren made a big step last year. The duo received tremendous credit for their exploits, but before the upcoming 2024 F1 season, Piastri has made it known that the personnel at the papaya team also had a huge part in the team’s 2023 success.

I've got complete confidence in [Stella], in Zak, in different parts of the business. It's exceeded everyone's expectations of how quickly we've been able to turn things around. For me, the impressive thing was I felt there was a very good base with the race team at the races. And then when we needed to make changes, we did, and it's worked.

Looking at the reaction of the 22-year-old, it is quite clear that he has the utmost faith in the job that Zak Brown and Co. are doing at McLaren. Moreover, has indicated that whatever the team tried last year in terms of improving the MCL60, it all worked in the team’s favor.

Oscar Piastri has the caliber to push Lando Norris in 2024

While Oscar Piastri has showered light on McLaren’s mega progress in 2023, on a personal front, he also had a solid season, considering, it was his rookie year. After a few initial jitters, Piastri was able to get the hang of things and thus, was able to end his campaign with a commendable 97 points.

Moreover, no one can forget how well he was able to perform in last year’s Qatar Grand Prix Sprint race. Against all the odds, he was able to win the event. Keeping in view everything, there is a very good chance that Piastri will be able to become a huge nuisance for Lando Norris during the 2024 F1 season.

Despite being quite young, Oscar Piastri’s know-how of the sport is at par with some of the other top drivers. He is effectively able to communicate with his engineers what he wants during a race weekend, and this is one trait that will help him a lot this year.
