“Otherwise, this will be Red Bull’s world championship,” Martin Brundle warns Ferrari after Miami Grand Prix
Martin Brundle clearly viewed the Miami race as a Red Bull dominated weekend. With the space, Red Bull had over the Ferrari on the race day, if not found a solution, it will lead to a Championship for the Austrian team.
Saturday’s Qualifying saw the Ferrari on 1-2 and had a head-on advantage over the Red Bull’s on the second row. As the race started Max Verstappen had Carlos Sainz covered but the first turn gave him a clear hit for the lead from Charles Leclerc.
Lap 16 saw that lead taking a move that never turned back with the race end.
Lap 53 had the safety car on the track and we again saw both the Ferraris and Red Bull close to each other . as the safety car ended Charles made a continuous move on Max for the lead but with the pace advantage, Red Bulls had it never happened.
That marked the over dominating advantage Red Bull had over the Ferraris. It was minimum damage as Sainz successfully defended his position from Perez, also thanking the engine problems Checo had.
“Once again Ferrari had no answer to Red Bull’s miraculous speed on the straight, with or without the DRS rear wing open,” wrote Marin Brundle.
Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc had an impressive weekend yet again
Miami Grand Prix saw a lot of good performances, Alex Albon finishing P9, Ocon’s clutch to P8, Russell’s lucky pit to P5.
But yet again we saw the impressive top two fighting for the lead in a different league. Overall Max had a great race after the struggles he had on Friday and Leclerc with a capable fighting spirit finishing not much behind the dominant Red Bull.
Carlos Sainz being able to defend P3 that saw both the Ferraris finishing on the podium and Checo managing to finish P4 after the engine problems he had, if not he could have also fought for the podium.
It was a win for Red Bull that gave Ferrari some work to do before the Spain Grand Prix , to fight back what they have lost.
