Max Verstappen and Red Bull carried on with their lead over Ferrari after his victory in the Sprint race at Austria after both the Ferraris were engaged in battling themselves. Max carried on to win the race by a 3 second lead over Charles Leclerc. Though this happened, it was seen that Leclerc was able to chase Verstappen even after all of that battle from Sainz, and that was interesting to note as the track is sure for a Red Bull performance, but as it turned out, Ferrari was matching the pace of Max Verstappen; they even stated it during their interview.

As long as this season has passed, Red Bull have always been faster than Ferrari, and it was extremely unpredicted that Ferrari would be able to match their pace. One of the reasons for this is because Ferrari recently had some changes in their rear wing, and secondly, the Bulls were a little heavier which was not allowing them to push to the maximum for a clean qualifying. Verstappen stated that a heavy car usually does not interfere during a race because of the fuel load, but it does during a qualifying lap as they are unable to push their cars.

Verstappen stated that “Our car is still not great over one lap, but that is also because we are still a bit too heavy. That means you can’t push to the limit in qualifying. During a race it doesn’t bother you as much, because the weight problem is less noticeable with a full tank,” as GPBlog quoted him.

Earlier, he also stated that there would be an interesting battle between the Bulls and Ferraris after he could feel their pace matching up to his car’s pace. Verstappen currently leads the championship.
