“Overtaking should be easier,” George Russell anticipates easy passing at Zandvoort with the new 2022 regulated cars
George Russell
George Russell expects to have a decent fighting spirit at Zandvoort with easy overtakes this season. 2022 regulated cars have made overtaking quite easy for the back markers than it was earlier. With tracks not having much to overtake, 2022 has proven itself on the very edge with movements were 4-5 cars fighting for the same spot till the end of the line.
Zandvoort hasn’t offered itself much with overtaking the last time Formula 1 visited it. 2021 Dutch GP wasn’t really a very fun race to watch with the leader dominating the race and finishing at the same spot. But George expects a different take from Zandvoort this time around after getting himself on the sims and trying out his W13 virtually.
“Overtaking should be easier. Felt a bit straightforward on the sim, but that might be different with a full tank of fuel. So we’ll see”, said Russell.
Max Verstappen expects some spice from Zandvoort in 2022
Max Verstappen the dominating winner of the 2021 Dutch GP expects the same from Zandvoort as George mentioned. Though he doesn’t really excite everyone for the same but wants to win his home race anyway. Max started his last two races from tenth and lower but won both of them after overtaking the lot in front of him. He, anyhow, doesn’t want it to be the same for the Dutch GP.
“I hope not to overtake too much. For sure will be better. Interesting to see how DRS will behave in the banking, but it should not be a problem,” said Max.
As the Belgian GP went away with Max showing his form, it won’t be a surprise for the Dutchman to have the same result this weekend as well. Dutch GP is the second race of the triple-header, it’s the home for Max and next is the home for the Italian powerhouse. Max would love to get a hat trick at this triple header.
