“Perhaps, a pedal car for F1?” Canadian Minister criticizes ‘activist’ Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel is known for being an activist in almost all the social sectors, and so in Canada, he was seen wearing a T-Shirt that denounced the extraction of oil in Alberta, state in Canada. Fans supported Vettel’s subtle moves about the same. But it obviously made a few people unhappy, which included on of Canada’s minister, who called the German a ‘hypocrite’ for wearing that T-Shirt. Alberta’s Energy Minister Sonya Savage went onto Twitter to express his displeasure for Sebastian Vettel, and also described that why did he call him a hypocrite.
According to Savage, one of the major sponsors of Aston Martin, the team Vettel drives for, are one of the biggest oil extractors in the world, so it becomes quite ironic for Vettel to wear that T-Shirt. “I have seen a lot of hypocrisy over the years, but this one takes the cake,” read Savage’s tweet, as quoted by Racing News 365.
“A race car driver sponsored by Aston Martin, with financing from Saudi Aramco, complaining about the oilsands.”Saudi Aramco has the largest daily oil production of all companies in the world.”It is reputed to be the single largest contributor to global carbon emissions, of any company, since 1965.”Rather than demonizing the oilsands, which is on a path to net-zero, people could look to lowering their own personal carbon footprint. Perhaps a pedal-car for Formula 1?”
Sebastian Vettel’s activism on the increase
This is not the first time Vettel has been seen silently protesting about an issue or sending a message. During the inauguration of the Miami Grand Prix, Sebastian was seen wearing a T-Shirt, again, which raised awareness issues for Global Warming.
There has been no response from Vettel to Savage upon his Tweet, but it can be stated that Formula 1 uses a much cleaner and effective fuel than most motorsports, and they are still working on the rise to invent a 100% effective fuel for the future.
