Seven times Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is arguably the most famous name in the history of the sport. His prowess and charisma on and off the track put every action of his under the microscope. Recently ex-F1 team manager Peter Windsor has detailed the dark reality Hamilton faces due to the unavoidable media limelight.
Windsor, a former team manager for Williams and Ferrari criticized journalists for the way they handle Lewis Hamilton and other Formula One drivers. Hamilton has ‘been abused and provoked’ by journalists, according to Windsor. He highlighted that this poor treatment has made drivers such as Hamilton give up really talking to the press in any sort of meaningful way.
He’s been abused so many times by questions from journalists who just want to provoke him into saying something that they can misquote and put in a big black bold headline. He’s just given up really talking to the press in any sort of meaningful way and it’s very sad that the press these days has done that.
Windsor said, as reported by SilverARROWS.
Despite this mistreatment, Hamilton or other drivers can’t stop doing their assigned PR duties as it is part of the job and they are consistently prepared for interviews. Windsor, who is now part of the F1 media with his YouTube channel, clearly wants to see a change in how the press approaches Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton gives his verdict on Mercedes closing the gap on Red Bull in 2024
Lewis Hamilton answered questions during a press conference following the conclusion of his last day of preseason testing. Hamilton said that he had decided to leave Mercedes at the end of 2024 and join Ferrari.
Hamilton made it clear that he is still totally focused on his final season with the German squad. The team has a very high goal of finishing strong, Hamilton stated. Hamilton then said, “We’re still fully focused on this Mercedes squad this year.”
The 39-year-old is still hopeful that the German Giants might catch Red Bull this year. As the British driver is having his last year in Mercedes. The Silver-based company would be looking to make Hamilton an eight-time world champion.
