McLaren had a disappointing start to the 2023 F1 season. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri struggled to make it to the top 10 in the early half of the season. However, the Woking-based team made massive strides in the latter half of the year. Now, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly has reckoned that he has no jealousy over McLaren’s success.

The French driver claimed that he was not jealous of the team’s impressive 2023 campaign. With Norris and Piastri bagging a few podium finishes as well. Gasly acknowledged that the British squad did a great job to bounce back after a difficult start to the year. As McLaren managed to even outscore Aston Martin by the end of the season.

There's no jealousy or 'oh s**t, they've [McLaren] done a really good job.' To me, it is 'they've done it, so it is possible to be doing that.' So fair play, admiration for the work they have done.
Pierre Gasly said as reported by Racingnews365

The 27-year-old believed that McLaren’s performance was proof that such progress can be made in F1. Perhaps a lesson for Alpine as it has struggled to make it to the front of the grid. Moreover, Gasly admitted that he admired the work done by the Woking-based team. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri certainly made a good recovery in the latter half of the season.

It is possible to get out of the midfield because they have, so why not us? My dad used to say 'two arms, two legs, two hands and two feet, so possible'. Go for it.

Lando Norris yet to win a race despite McLaren’s progress in 2023

Lando Norris has established himself as one of the most talented drivers in Formula 1. The Briton entered the sport with McLaren in the 2019 season and has stayed with the team since. The 24-year-old solidified his place at the Woking-based team after outperforming Daniel Ricciardo as his teammate for two seasons.

However, Norris has failed to win a single race in his F1 career so far. The British driver has made it clear that he intends to stay with McLaren in the future. However, things might change if the Woking-based squad fails to give him a car capable of winning races. The 24-year-old has received interest from rivals in the past, including Red Bull.

Certainly, Lando Norris would be looking to end his win drought in F1 with McLaren. The 24-year-old has supported the British team as it rebuilt itself in the past few seasons. However, it remains to be seen if the Woking-based team could give an opportunity to Norris to fight for a race victory in the upcoming F1 season.
