Pierre Gasly, the French Formula One driver competes for Alpine, a French team. He is one of the most active drivers on social media. Last season he was the talk of the town with his new hashtag trending on Twitter – “Liked by Pierre Gasly”. This came after he was obsessed with liking plenty of pictures on Instagram. Gasly is one of the most likeable figures on the grid.

The French driver has an array of passionate fans just like other athletes. These ardent fans, sometimes go extreme when it comes to their favourite athlete. Gasly, just like the others, is entitled to have a relationship and be open about it. Some of his fans however were not cool with his relationship. They went to the level of hurting their idol and invading his privacy.

Francisca Kika Gomes, Pierre Gasly’s girlfriend posted several pictures of them together. Though some fans thought it was cute and shipped them, others became obsessed and mass-reported the pictures of the couple on Instagram. This led to Instagram blocking her account. Francisca is a model and this affected her personal and professional life naturally. This hate is not uncommon in the grid, previously Lando Norris‘ ex-girlfriend suffered a similar situation.

The 19-year-old model did not hold back, she slammed the haters with a post on Instagram.“My account got blocked due to constant (and obviously unjustified) reports. I’m saddened and frustrated to see that, despite always trying to be respectful towards my followers and community, mean people managed to get to me by shutting down my account.”

Francisca rightfully called out his toxic fans and addressed her feelings. “This affects both my personal and professional life, and although I was able to sort this issue with Instagram’s support, I still don’t understand how this can be the best use of someone’s time. Apologies to all of you that support me and give me love, and thanks for understanding!”. However not all his fans lashed out at her, some showed their support on Twitter.

Thankfully not all his fans encouraged the bullying; the Twitter community came together in support of Gasly and his girlfriend. They spoke about the need to stop obsessing over the driver’s personal life and called it disrespectful as they should. Francisca would not have imagined this to happen in her wildest dreams, lucky for her the issue was sorted and she got her account back. Gasly has not made a statement on this incident yet. The driver will be back on track for the pre-season testing. This will mark his new journey with Alpine, the French team.
