French driver Pierre Gasly has stated that it is too early to give any strong opinion about the upgrade package of AlphaTauri, even though two races have passed.

AlphaTauri introduced upgrades for the AT03 right before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Prior to that, the Frenchman managed to finish P9 in the Australian Grand Prix, after starting P11, and ended up scoring 2 points for the team. On the other hand, his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda finished P15 in the same race.

Post Australia, new upgrades were introduced for AlphaTauri and were put to test.

However, even after two races, Pierre Gasly has stated that it might be a little too early to see the effects of the upgrades on the car.

This is primarily because the cars did not have the opportunity to perform after the upgrades. Emilia Romagna had a very wet track during the race, which made all the cars underperform; and during the Miami GP, Pierre Gasly had to retire early after his collision with Lando Norris, which also prompted the only safety car during the race.

Pierre Gasly stated that although the Emilia Romagna GP was fine, Miami didn’t mean much because according to him, even if the would have finished the race, it would have been a P8 or P9 at best.

“I think Imola was kind of good, [Miami], it didn’t mean much, it would have been like a P8 or a P9 finish the way things were going.

“[It is] difficult to say but we will keep pushing and for sure, we are in the fight for the top 10 and on the edge, but clearly we have got to keep working to try and make some steps forward in the coming races,” GPFans quoted the Frenchman’s words.

Gasly said that even though they try to push and set good lap times in qualifying, they’re still struggling somewhere to be more competitive.

AlphaTauri stand 7th with 16 points in their bag, and Pierre Gasly stands 13th after scoring 6 points until now.
