The disqualification of Russell by FIA left quite a few fans perplexed and an F1 analyst took to TWITTER to make his displeasure known as he wrote, “That’s a pretty lame ruling for Russell. He got out of the car to go see if another competitor was OK and so now he’s out of the race.”

Rules are rules, but they’re also has to be some common sense applied that this is not a normal situation. Let him race, FIA.”

The F1 analyst believes that Russell should have been allowed to continue as he only got out of his car to check on Zhou who had a horrific crash.

As per the analyst, in Russell’s case, the FIA could have used some common sense after considering the situation in which the Brit was.

The FIA this year has been pretty quick in responding to incidents and Russell during an interview after his disqualification was asked to give his thoughts on the incident and the Brit said that because he did not bring the car back into the pits of his own accord he was not allowed to start the race.

As per the rules, it is absolutely mandatory for drivers to bring their cars into the pits without any assistance as otherwise they are not allowed to restart the race.

George Russell afterward even tweeted about the incident and wrote, “First of all, the most important thing is that Zhou is ok. That was a scary incident and all credit to the marshals and medical team for their quick response. Obviously gutted to end the race this way and I’m sorry for the team and the fans. Cheering LH on from the garage.”

George Russell was out of the race within the first 21 seconds of the first lap and after today’s result, it must have felt terrible, especially considering it was his home Grand Prix.
