Max Verstappen was able to win yesterday’s Imola Grand Prix which took place under challenging conditions and former Formula One champion Mario Andretti has applauded Verstappen for the impressive shift he put in at Imola to win his second race of the 2022 Formula one season.

Andretti was left immensely pleased with the mega performance that the Dutchman was able to put in Imola and after the race, the American was just not able to resist and took to TWITTER to applaud Max Verstappen.

Andretti via his TWITTER wrote, “Max has shown clearly why he is World Champion. Purely fast and no mistakes.”

Andretti has always been a Max fan and during last year’s Austin GP also said, “What Max accomplished in Austin: to lead in a place where Mercedes normally has an advantage because of the long straight. He was able to defend, was solid, and didn’t make a single mistake.”

Max Verstappen during the Imola weekend was able to put a flawless performance for his team on a track where many drivers found it difficult to get to grips with the circuit.

Even Charles Leclerc who is Max Verstappen’s biggest rival this season went off track for committing a small error and that almost brought the Monegasque’s progress to a halt.

while the drivers struggled Verstappen was able to disappear in the distance and was able to run a pretty comfortable race where he was hardly challenged by anyone behind.

Mario Andretti is an ardent Max Verstappen supporter and believes that the Dutchman is one of the best drivers that has ever graced the sport.

Back then after the Austin GP Andretti while talking up Verstappen also said “even though there were no changes at the front, it was nail-biting. You could see how much pressure Lewis was giving him. He (Max) parried that perfectly. Everyone realizes that we are witnessing the best the sport has to offer. There is no doubt about that.

Andretti after last season’s Max and Lewis battle is certain that in his view Verstappen is “pure gold” and is on a whole another level as compared to the other drivers on the F1 grid.
