Lewis Hamilton‘s 2025 move to Ferrari was first announced at the beginning of February and it sent shockwaves through the entire grid. This opens up a seat at Mercedes that has many suitors including a former world champion who is reportedly interested in the seat. Several conjectures have been circulating ever since that time.

Ex-F1 work champions Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel were rumored to be in the running. But both parties have rejected the claims. But now ex-F1 driver and Michael Schmuacter‘s brother, Ralf has given an update on Vettell that raises suspicion. He revealed that his fellow German racer wants race cars against, him but didn’t specify whether he is looking to enter F1.

I heard that Sebastian Vettel wants to drive a car again, Of course, you have to close a gap now. You saw what happened on the stock market after Lewis Hamilton moved to Ferrari, that triggered something.
Ralf Schumacher said, as reported by racingnews365.com

Schumacher later argued that George Russell, who is set to assume the lead driver role at Mercedes once Hamilton moves on, might not be the best option. He also asserted that if Vettel did join Mercedes, then Russell might fail to handle the pressure from the German.

Mick Schumacher is vying for Hamilton’s Mercedes Formula One seat

Since a Mercedes seat is open, Mick Schumacher keeps an eye on Formula One. Since Haas’ departure in 2022, Schumacher has been the Silver Arrows’ reserve and development player. Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari might make it easier for him to return to the grid.

I'm of course aware that Lewis' Mercedes seat will then be free. I'm still keeping an eye on Formula 1 and hopefully, the dream will come true again. But in the end, it's important that I also do my things and see my role as a reserve driver - and especially my role as a WEC driver in the foreground. If I perform well, let's see where it takes me. I'm sure that Mercedes knows what I can do. You've also seen it in the simulation sessions, in the junior categories and at Haas. Hopefully, it'll be enough to have more people in the WEC and Formula 1 to impress.
Mick Schumacher said.

Schumacher has been added to Alpine’s Hypercar project, a part of the World Endurance Championship grid. He is also the F1 reserve driver for both Mercedes and Alpine. His ultimate plan is to secure an F1 seat by proving himself at Alpine and if he has an impressive WEC season, he could make the dream come true using the Hamilton-made chaos to his advantage.
