Red Bull has been gotten their fair share of fines over the years and Sergio Perez becomes the latest victim for the same. The team comes to Silverstone for the British GP after their dominant performance in Austria. Verstappen and Perez contributed to the points tally following their 1-3 finish in the race. The team’s goal for this race also remains somewhat similar.
FIA has always been strict when it comes to rules and regulations that need to be followed. During the Austrian GP, multiple drivers were penalised for track limit violations. However, things seemed to have changed for Silverstone. Sergio Perez has received a €100 fine for speeding in the pit lane during Free Practice session at the 2023 British Grand Prix.
“Was a very positive day, the car feels good and we made good progress from FP1 to FP2, hopefully tomorrow we can take another step to be in the fight,” Perez had said in a post on social media as he prepares to fight with Max Verstappen for the title. So far, the Mexican driver has received support from both Christian Horner and Dr Helmut Marko. However, it won’t be there forever as they have a decision to make.

Sergio Perez’s shenanigans cost him and Red Bull
During the second practice session at 16:29, Sergio Perez entered the pit lane at a speed of 80.9kph (50.2mph) when the limit in force at Silverstone is 80kph (50mph). At some tracks, the limit is reduced to 60kmph due to the layout of the pits. Perez’s actions were directly in breach of Article 34.7 of the Sporting Regulations which meant that a penalty would be imposed.
Max Verstappen currently leads the 2023 F1 world championship whilst teammate Sergio Perez is trying to defend 2nd position from Fernando Alonso. While Max is showcasing a truly dominant form, Sergio Perez is struggling a lot which has raised questions about his future at Red Bull. With F1 racing in Silverstone this week, it will be yet another chance for the Mexican to cement his place in the team. It will be interesting to see what happens.
