Red Bull have been utterly dominating the sport since the turn of the decade, their 3 World Championships stand as proof. Adrian Newey, often termed the greatest car designer in Formula 1 history, previously revealed the team’s aim for next season as they eye another historic triumph. The World Championship team has started experimenting on the 2024 car as they announced two new ‘floor design’ upgrades for the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s announcement reveals that the team will be testing two new upgrades on the RB19. These two new floor upgrades will be seen on track during the practice sessions on Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s cars. Pierre Waché, Technical Director at Red Bull, has revealed that the aim of the new floor designs is all “future oriented” [according to Motorsport Italy]. Waché, who works under the legendary Adrian Newey, however, confirmed that Red Bull will be expecting a minor performance increase at the Mexican Grand Prix attributed to the new floor designs.
With both the Championships (Driver’s and Constructor’s) in the bag, Red Bull seems to be aiming for another dominant season in 2024. Rival teams have struggled to close the gap to Red Bull’s 2023’s RB19, and still continue to do so. It will be interesting if any other team can challenge the Milton-Keynes outfit for the Championship next year.
Adrian Newey previously termed the 2023 season as ‘one of the easiest’
Adrian Newey, often celebrated as the finest car designer in Formula 1 history, has a storied legacy of constructing championship-winning cars for Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull. In the 2023 season, Newey’s masterpiece, the RB19, not only outperformed all other cars by a significant margin but is also considered one of the greatest cars ever, with Max Verstappen at the helm.
Newey shared his perspective on the 2023 season with Sky Sports F1.
This has been one of the easiest, one of the less stressful ones. That’s for sure. We have developed a really great technical team over the years.
The 2023 season will undoubtedly be remembered for Red Bull’s dominant performance. The team from Milton Keynes has won 17 of the 18 races thus far, with four races still to go.
Red Bull are undoubtedly the title favorites for next season with Newey at the garage. It will be interesting to see which direction the Legend takes the RB19 before the sun sets on the 2023 season, as 2024 awaits further greatness from the Briton.
