The 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix will always be remembered for Red Bull’s incredible comeback. They raced against time to get Max Verstappen back in the race. This race showcased their unwavering determination and unmatched skill that turned Red Bull into an unstoppable force. Red Bull is known for their excellent pit crew; however, Budapest was proof of its capabilities.
Just minutes before the start of the third race day of the 2020 Formula 1 season, there was a dramatic incident involving Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver representing Red Bull, unfortunately, crashed into the barriers during his out-lap from the pits towards the grid. This mishap caused him to lose his front wing and put his participation in jeopardy.
Verstappen promptly communicated the unfortunate incident to his team over the radio, expressing his realization of hitting the wall. As the clock ticked down to the race start, he brought the damaged car to the grid, where a swarm of mechanics immediately surrounded it. Some rushed back to the garage to retrieve a new wing, while others diligently worked on repairing the front left suspension.

Red Bull’s incredible efforts paid off as Max Verstappen’s car was race-ready just in time
It became a race against time for the Red Bull team to ensure Verstappen’s readiness for the race. Despite the immense pressure, the team’s exceptional efforts paid off, managing to prepare the car just moments before the race was set to commence. Overwhelmed by the incredible work of his team, Verstappen expressed his gratitude and amazement over the team radio, remarking, “Incredible work guys, that’s truly unbelievable. Thank you very much.”
During the race, Verstappen showcased his outstanding talent. Despite his tires wearing down compared to Bottas, he masterfully held off the Mercedes driver. Maintaining a consistent gap of around eight seconds, Verstappen masterfully countered Bottas’ relentless pursuit of setting the fastest laps.
Despite facing significant pre-race adversity, Verstappen and his team showcased remarkable resilience. Their relentless efforts paid off with an impressive second-place finish in the revised 2020 season’s third race. Max adeptly defended against Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas in a late race challenge.
