Report: Mercedes to introduce their BIGGEST upgrades in the next two rounds

Mercedes

Mercedes have dominated F1 for almost a decade, as the Brackely-based unit have claimed eight consecutive Constructors titles. However, the German giants have regressed this season, with the new regulations coming into effect.

Mercedes is lagging behind their rivals Red Bull and Ferrari, who are considered as front-runners for the both championships this season. There has been a glimmer of hope for Mercedes off-late, with improved performances in Silverstone and Austria. But, they have quite a bit of ground to make up. Since we are halfway into the season, Mercedes’ focus will be to end the season on a high, and introduce some radical changes for 2023 F1 season.

While several teams are unhappy with FIA’s recently-issued technical directives, Mercedes could expect to benefit from the same. The new regulations come into effect from the Belgian GP, which is the first race after the month-long summer break.

Another exciting prospect for Mercedes are the reported heavy upgrades planned before the summer break. As AMuS reports, the German team could introduce their best upgrades in the next two rounds of the season.

Mercedes have endured a topsy-tury season so far, with plenty of experimentation being conducted on all fronts. Although all upgrades may not have worked in their favour, yet they are beginning to show at least some improvements.

Mercedes showed the pace at Silverstone, where Lewis Hamilton finished P3 in his home race. The Briton again bagged a podium in Austria, finishing behind championship rivals Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner also remains wary of Mercedes threat at Paul Ricard circuit this weekend. He expects that Brackley-based unit to be fastest at the French GP. Mercedes have not claimed a single victory this season, and if the upgrades work out as planned, it could arrive soon.
