Lewis Hamilton, the former seven-time world champion, will be seen wearing the iconic red gear of the Ferrari next year. This unprecedented move was not expected by many and while a lot was said about it, ex-F1 engineer, Rob Smedley, has come up with some advice for the Brit.
Lewis Hamilton has been making his trade with Mercedes since 2013. However, with him moving to Ferrari from 2025 onwards, Rob Smedley believes that the former upon his move, should try to integrate himself as much as possible within the Italian community.
While speaking on the same lines, Smedley said,
He has a duty to himself and to his employer, to embed himself as much as he can, to integrate himself into the community. If he can learn to speak a little bit of Italian, they will absolutely adore him for it. But whatever he puts in – if he puts 100 per cent in, he’ll get 100 per cent back.Rob Smedley said on the Formula for Success podcast
The Tifosi fan group has a well-known reputation for their passion for Ferrari. They support the team with all their might during Grand Prix weekends, and Smedley believes, Hamilton will also experience the same from next year onward. However, he has admitted that the 39-year-old would also have to put in some effort from his end.
Fred Vasseur feels Lewis Hamilton will bring a fresh ‘vision’ to Ferrari
While Rob Smedley has given his advice to Lewis Hamilton regarding the Ferrari move, the Italian outfit’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, is very optimistic about it. Vasseur ardently feels that the Brit will bring in a fresh perspective.
Moreover, he hopes that it will help Ferrari in making a jump toward its goal of winning its first world championship since 2007.
What he will bring is that he is the only seven-time champion on the grid today, that he will come with not only the speed into the car and the technical approach, but he will bring also a different vision of the team. But it’s important for me to have a kind of mix of future and he will come with this experience and for sure it’s an added value.Fred Vasseur said in an interview with Sky F1
Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the fastest drivers on the current F1 grid. He has all the skills in his arsenal to take Ferrari to a whole new level next year, and considering this, it will be fascinating to see how 2025 will pan out for him against the prolific Charles Leclerc.
